Quite upsetting was Tsukuba R.'s 20-point home defeat in a game versus Toyota Alvark who smashed hosts The guests trailed by 5 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 16-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 82-62. Toyota Alvark dominated on the defensive end, holding Tsukuba R. to just 2 points in second quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Tsukuba R.'s 22. They outrebounded Tsukuba R. 47-35 including 34 on the defensive glass. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Toyota Alvark made 9 blocks. American power forward Xavier Gibson (210-88, college: Florida St.) fired a double-double by scoring 14 points and 15 rebounds for the winners. His fellow American import forward Jeff Gibbs (188-80, college: Otterbein) chipped in 11 points and 8 rebounds. Four Toyota Alvark players scored in double figures.
