Regular Season Round 1: Telekom Bsk - Strasbourg 83-86

Date: October 15, 2014
But Telekom Baskets were not able to use a home court advantage and were edged by the opponent from Strasbourg 86-83 on Wednesday night. Telekom Baskets were trailing by 3 points at halftime but managed to get 6-point lead after three quarters before a 28-19 charge of Strasbourg IG, which allowed them to win the game. They shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 68.4 percentage. Telekom Baskets were plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for American point guard Louis Campbell (190-79, college: Buffalo) who helped to win the game recording 18 points and 5 assists (perfect behind the arc making all five shots). Point guard Antoine Diot (193-89) contributed with 15 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Forward Steve Wachalski (202-83) answered with 24 points and Lithuanian guard Benas Veikalas (192-83, college: Metro St.) added 17 points and 5 steals in the effort for Telekom Baskets. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Strasbourg IG will face CAI Zaragoza at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Telekom Baskets will play against Brose Baskets in Bamberg and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
