Regular Season Round 1: Spirou - Virtus Acea 59-88

Spirou Charleroi was not able to use a home court advantage and was outplayed by the opponent from Roma 88-59 on Wednesday night. The game was mostly controlled by Acea. Spirou Charleroi was better in fourth quarter 18-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Acea forced 20 Spirou Charleroi turnovers. Spirou Charleroi was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. American players dominated the game. It was a very good performance for guard Brandon Triche (193-91, college: Syracuse) who helped to win the game recording 26 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Guard Kyle Gibson (196-87, college: Louisiana Tech) contributed with 16 points for the winners. Forward Dylan Page (204-82, college: Wisc.-Milwaukee) answered with 15 points and forward Eric Wise (198-90, college: USC) added 11 points in the effort for Spirou Charleroi. Four Spirou Charleroi players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players. Acea will face Sluc Nancy at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Spirou Charleroi will play against Sevilla and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
