Quarter-Finals Round 3: Cimarrones - Piratas 71-67

Cimarrones outgunned Piratas to spur ahead in the series. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 24-8. But Piratas won third quarter 21-10. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Strangely Piratas outrebounded Cimarrones 49-31 including a 19-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was a great evening for American forward Randy Hunter (198-90, college: Humboldt St.) who led his team to a victory scoring 11 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. The former international swingman Eleutherio Renteria (194-81) helped adding 15 points. The best for the losing side was Venezuelan swingman Carlos Cedeno (193-85, college: Frank Phillips JC) with 23 points and 8 assists and Venezuelan forward Juan Herrera (197-81) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures.
