Regular Season Round 5: Petrochema - Rasai 74-71

Important game to mention about took place in Jonava. Second ranked Petrochema (4-1) saved a 3-point victory at home edging 8th ranked Rasai (2-3) 74-71 on Friday evening. Host team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Rasai. Forward Karolis Sarukas (198-95) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 11 rebounds. Forward Henrikas Vorotnikovas (203-90) contributed with 20 points for the winners. Petrochema's coach Kestutis Narusevicius allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Forward Valdemaras Savostjanovas (200-84) answered with 18 points and 8 rebounds and guard Giedrius Kurtinaitis (195-86) added 17 points in the effort for Rasai. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Petrochema have a solid series of four victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Perlas-MRU and Ezerunas-Karys. Newly promoted Rasai dropped to the tenth place with three games lost. Petrochema will play against JAZZ-Diremta (#13) in Kaunas in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Rasai will play at home against Suduva-Mantinga and hopes to get back on the winning track.
