Academia upset Aguilas in the decider and advanced into the semifinal stage of the championship. The guests trailed by 5 points after three quarters before their 27-14 charge, which allowed them to win the game. The best player for the winners was Dominican guard Gerardo Suero (193-89, college: Albany) who scored 37 points (!!!). American-Dominican point guard Cesar Chavez Jacobo (196-85, college: St.Thomas, FL) chipped in 11 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists.
