The game had a very big importance for third-ranked Dragonflies as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Dragonflies defeated their biggest opponent Wakayama T. on the road 50-44. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Wakayama T.. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The guests were already 13 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 14-7 Wakayama T.'s run in the last quarter cut the lead to 50-44 at the end of the game. They outrebounded Wakayama T. 42-30 including a 33-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. The winners were led by Senegalese center Pape Faye (200-87) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 11 points and 15 rebounds and international power forward Kosuke Takeuchi (206-85) supported him with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Even a double-double of 24 points and 15 rebounds by American forward Michael Parker (202-81, college: Evergreen St.) did not help to save the game for Wakayama T.. Guard Yuu Abe (180-84) added 8 points for lost side. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Wakayama T. Wakayama T. will play next round against strong Mitsubishi Dolphins trying to get back on the winning streak. Dragonflies will try to continue on its current victory against fourth ranked Aishin Sea Horses at Kariya.
