Regular Season Round 6: Karlovka - B.Bystrica 79-86

SKP Banska Bystrica has finally registered their first victory this season after four consecutive loses. The win is especially important as it came on the road game in Bratislava, where they defeated Karlovka (1-5) 86-79. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Karlovka won third quarter 28-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when SKP Banska Bystrica won last quarter 22-16. SKP Banska Bystrica outrebounded Karlovka 38-20 including 27 on the defensive glass. 25 personal fouls committed by Karlovka helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for the former international guard Milan Ziak (190-88) who led his team to a victory with 20 points, 6 assists and 5 steals. American guard Jared Maree (190-89, college: UTPA) contributed with 20 points for the winners. Lukaas Hoferica replied with 23 points and 5 rebounds and center Ivan Zidzik (208-90, college: NW Nazarene) added 12 points in the effort for Karlovka. Four Karlovka players scored in double figures. SKP Banska Bystrica (1-4) left bottom position moving up to eighth place. It was Karlovka's fifth loss in a row. Newly promoted team dropped to the ninth position with five games lost. SKP Banska Bystrica's next round opponent will be higher ranked Handlova at home and it may be quite challenging game. Karlovka will play against Levice and hope to win that game.
