Regular Season Round 8: Petrochema - Ezerunas-Karys 69-74

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Jonava. Third ranked Ezerunas-Karys faced second-ranked Petrochema. Guests from Moletai (6-2) defeated host Petrochema (6-2) 74-69. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Petrochema. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 20-12. But Petrochema won second period 16-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Ezerunas-Karys made 23-of-29 free shots (79.3 percent) during the game. Ezerunas-Karys had a 34-19 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international power forward Saulius Kuzminskas (210-82, college: California) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Evaldas Baniulis (201-87, college: S.Carolina) who added 14 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. Four Ezerunas-Karys players scored in double figures. Forward Henrikas Vorotnikovas (203-90) responded with 15 points and 8 rebounds and Evaldas Aniulis (186-92, college: High School) scored 7 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Petrochema's coach Kestutis Narusevicius tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Ezerunas-Karys moved-up to second place, which they share with defeated Petrochema. Ezerunas-Karys will meet Zalgiris II (#9) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Petrochema will play against Silute (#12) and hope to secure a win.
