Regular Season Round 5: Mickiewicz - Pogon RS 78-73

There was a surprise result in Katowice where eighth ranked Mickiewicz (2-2) defeated Pogon RS (3-2) 78-73 on Sunday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Pogon RS won third quarter 26-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was guard Karol Leszczynski (190-87) who scored 17 points and 5 assists. Power forward Mateusz Migala (202-94) chipped in 15 points and 5 rebounds. point guard Pawel Mol (180-87) produced 9 points, 8 rebounds, 8 assists and 5 steals and guard Adam Wilkin (194-83) added 19 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Mickiewicz moved-up to seventh place in Group C, which they share with AZS PCz. Newly promoted Pogon RS keeps the fourth position with two games lost. Mickiewicz will face MKS DG 2 in Dabrowa Gornicza in the next round. Pogon RS will play at home against Gimbasket Wroclaw (#10) and hope to win that game.
