Regular Season Round 9: Petrochema - Silute 61-63

Very important is a home loss of third ranked Petrochema (6-3) against twelfth ranked Silute (2-7) on Thursday night. Host Petrochema was edged by Silute in a tough game in Jonava 61-63. The guests trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 21-7 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Silute dominated on the defensive end, holding Petrochema to just 7 points in third quarter. Forward Edvinas Alunderis (202-92) nailed 14 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side and swingman Kostas Jonuska (196-92) accounted for 8 points and 9 rebounds. Forward Henrikas Vorotnikovas (203-90) came up with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds and forward Aurimas Urbonas (197-93) added 9 points and 5 assists respectively for Petrochema in the defeat. Petrochema's coach Kestutis Narusevicius tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Despite that victory Silute went down to thirteenth position due to points difference. Loser Petrochema dropped to the second place with three games lost. They share the position with Suduva-Mantinga and Ezerunas-Karys. Silute will meet at home league's second-placed Suduva-Mantinga in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Petrochema will play against Delikatesas in Joniskis and hope to secure a win.
