Regular Season Round 7: Cuxhaven - Chemnitz 90-75

Cuxhaven BasCats can celebrate finally their first win this season after six consecutive loses. They used home court advantage to defeat BV Chemnitz 99 (2-5) 90-75 on Friday. Cuxhaven BasCats forced 21 BV Chemnitz 99 turnovers. It was a great evening for American guard Aaron Cook (186-83, college: Hartford) who led his team to a victory scoring 17 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Bill Borekambi (199-92, college: Sequoias CC) helped adding 19 points and 5 rebounds (perfect from the field making all nine shots !!!). Four Cuxhaven BasCats players scored in double figures. Cuxhaven BasCats' coach Krists Plendiskis used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side American point guard Virgil Matthews (188-83, college: Montana, agency: Court Side) responded with 30 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import forward Andre Calvin (201-85, college: Drake) produced a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds. Cuxhaven BasCats (1-6) left bottom position moving up to fourteenth place, which they share with Bayer Giants. Loser BV Chemnitz 99 keeps the thirteenth position with five games lost. Cuxhaven BasCats will meet higher ranked Oettinger Rockets Gotha (#11) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. BV Chemnitz 99 will play against Ehingen/Urspringschule and hope to secure a win.
