Regular Season Round 8: Timisoara - Targu Mures 86-70

There was a small surprise when ninth ranked Timisoara (4-4) defeated at home 7th ranked Targu Mures (4-4) 86-70. The game was mostly controlled by Timisoara. Targu Mures was better in third quarter 21-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 17-of-20 charity shots (85.0 percent) during the game. Timisoara players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Targu Mures' players. Serbian guard Biljana Pesovic (180-83) orchestrated the victory by scoring 21 points and 7 assists. Serbian guard Natasa Krnjetina (180-88) contributed with 16 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Four Timisoara players scored in double figures. American guard Antoinette Thompson (170-90, college: TCU) replied with 22 points and 9 rebounds and her fellow American import guard Kahla Roudebush (173-86, college: Cincinnati) added 15 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Targu Mures. Timisoara have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Brasov and Targu Mures. Timisoara will play against bottom-ranked Craiova (#14) in Craiova in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Targu Mures will play on the road against ICIM Arad (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
