Regular Season Round 12: Gansos - Abejas 80-89

Rather predictable result in Ciudad de Mexico where eleventh ranked Abejas (5-7) defeated bottom-ranked Gansos (2-9) 89-80 on Saturday. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 24-12. But Gansos won third quarter 23-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Gansos 44-31 including a 16-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Steffphon Pettigrew (195-89, college: W.Kentucky) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 23 points and 15 rebounds and the other American import forward Reginald Larry (198-86, college: Boise St.) who added 20 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was Giovanni Santiago with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds and American swingman Brandon Davis (198-88, college: Lamar, agency: Elite Talent Exchange) scored 14 points and 5 rebounds. Gansos' coach Luis Andres Garcia tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Abejas moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Jefes. Gansos lost sixth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with nine games lost. Abejas will face Titanicos (#13) in the next round. Gansos will play against Correcaminos in Ciudad Victoria and hope to win that game.
