Regular Season Round 9: Giessen 46ers - Vechta 85-76
Date: November 8, 2014
Not a big story in a game when 11th ranked SC Rasta Vechta (4-5) was defeated on the road by fifth ranked Giessen 46ers (6-3) 85-76 on Saturday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 23-17. But SC Rasta Vechta won second period 24-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American point guard Cameron Wells (186-88, college: Citadel) stepped up and scored 20 points for the winners and naturalized American guard T.J. DiLeo (190-90, college: Temple) chipped in 12 points and 6 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American forward Vincent Bailey (201-91, college: Lincoln Memorial) with 17 points and 9 rebounds and point guard Kevin Smit (183-91) scored 13 points and 4 assists. Four Giessen 46ers and five SC Rasta Vechta players scored in double figures. Giessen 46ers have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Jena and Nuernberg. Loser SC Rasta Vechta dropped to the tenth position with five games lost. Giessen 46ers will face league's second-placed ETB Wohnbau in Essen in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. SC Rasta Vechta will play at home against Cuxhaven BasCats (#15) and hope to win that game and get promotion back to the BBL just one year after relegation.
