Regular Season Round 11: Fukushima - Shimane SM 73-67

Bottom-ranked Shimane Magic (0-11) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 73-67 loss to tenth ranked Fukushima (2-9) in Fukushima on Saturday evening. The hosts trailed by 10 points at the halftime before their 50-34 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. The best player for the winners was point guard Masaya Karimata (178-88) who scored 24 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. American guard Verdell Jones III (195-89, college: Indiana) chipped in 20 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. American guard Joe Chapman (193-84, college: Marquette, agency: I.D.S. Law) produced 25 points and the other American import forward Bingo Merriex (206-80, college: TCU) added 6 points and 16 rebounds respectively for the guests. Shimane Magic's coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Newly promoted Fukushima maintains tenth place with 2-9 record which they share with defeated Shimane Magic. Shimane Magic lost their eleventh game in a row. They still close the standings with 11 games lost. Fukushima will face again Shimane Magic (#10) at home in the next round.
