Very expected game in Yixing where 9th ranked Whale (1-3) was rolled over by fifth ranked Jiangsu Phoenix (3-1) 99-78 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Jiangsu Phoenix. Whale managed to win fourth quarter 22-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Jiangsu Phoenix dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Whale's 34. They outrebounded Whale 34-22 including 24 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Yi Qiang (193-94) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds and guard Na Jinwei (180-92) who added 24 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. Five Jiangsu Phoenix players scored in double figures. At the losing side swingman Siyang Wu (182-91) responded with 25 points and 5 rebounds and forward Fan Feng (185-90) scored 24 points and 5 rebounds. Jiangsu Phoenix moved-up to third place, which they share with Shanghai. Newly promoted Whale dropped to the eighth position with three games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Jiangsu Phoenix will meet at home Bayi Kylin in the next round. Whale will play against Guangdong Dolphins in Guangzhou and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
