Regular Season Round 9: Heidelberg - Gotha 71-85

There was a minor upset when 7th ranked MLP Academics Heidelberg (5-4) was defeated at home by ninth ranked Oettinger Rockets Gotha (5-4) 85-71 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Oettinger Rockets Gotha. MLP Academics Heidelberg was better in third quarter 27-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded MLP Academics Heidelberg 38-26 including a 38-26 advantage in defensive rebounds. American center Will Reinke (208-90, college: Oklah.Christian) stepped up and scored 19 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and naturalized American point guard Brad Loesing (182-89, college: Wofford) chipped in 14 points and 8 assists. Four Oettinger Rockets Gotha players scored in double figures. Oettinger Rockets Gotha's coach Chris Ensminger allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The best for the losing side was American guard Bradley Tinsley (191-89, college: Vanderbilt) with 15 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and the other American import forward Kelvin Martin (195-89, college: Charleston So.) scored 20 points and 5 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Oettinger Rockets Gotha moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated MLP Academics Heidelberg. Oettinger Rockets Gotha will face higher ranked Nuernberg (#3) in Nurnberg in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
