Regular Season Round 8: Walter Tigers - Ratiopharm 83-92

Very expected game when 17th ranked Walter Tigers (1-7) lost to tenth ranked ratiopharm Ulm (4-4) in Tuebingen 83-92. It looked good early as Walter Tigers took an 6-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then ratiopharm Ulm had a 28-18 second period charge getting the lead and Walter Tigers were not able to take back game control losing it eventually 83-92. ratiopharm Ulm made 19-of-25 charity shots (76.0 percent) during the game. It was a great shooting night for ratiopharm Ulm especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 64.7 percentage. The best player for the winners was international Tim Ohlbrecht (210-88) who scored 20 points and 6 rebounds. International point guard Per Guenther (185-88) chipped in 15 points and 7 assists. Five ratiopharm Ulm players scored in double figures. Serbian guard Branislav Ratkovica (192-85, agency: Beo Basket) produced 19 points and 9 assists and point guard Till-Joscha Joenke (190-92) added 11 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Walter Tigers' coach Igor Perovic rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. ratiopharm Ulm moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Bayreuth and Bremerhaven. Walter Tigers at the other side dropped to the bottom position with seven games lost. ratiopharm Ulm's next round opponent will be higher ranked Telekom Baskets (#7) in Bonn and it may be quite challenging game. Walter Tigers will play at home against Crailsheim Merlins (#17) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
