WCBA round 5 caused change at the leadership position. First defeat of Beijing Great Wall (4-1) against leader Shanxi Rui Flame (5-0) 70-62 was the most important game of the last round. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Beijing Great Wall. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The hosts trailed by 11 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 8 points. Shanxi Rui Flame outrebounded Beijing Great Wall 40-28 including a 21-10 advantage in offensive rebounds. American Maya Moore (183-89, college: Connecticut) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds. International power forward XueYa Ma (190-93) contributed with 11 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. American center Brittney Griner (203-90, college: Baylor) answered with 24 points and 7 rebounds and forward Site Qi (180-90) added 9 points in the effort for Beijing Great Wall. Shanxi Rui Flame have an impressive series of five victories in a row. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader. Beijing Great Wall at the other side dropped to the second place with one game lost. They share the position with Jiangsu and Shanghai. They were replaced at the leadership position by Shanxi. Beijing Great Wall will play next round against Shenyang Golden Lions trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Shanxi Rui Flame will try to continue on its current victory against tenth ranked Heilongjiang Chenneng in Harbin.
