The game between closely ranked teams ended with 5th ranked Bayi Kylin's (2-3) road loss to fourth ranked Jiangsu Phoenix (4-1) in Yixing 70-74 on Tuesday. Bayi Kylin trailed by 13 points at halftime and as many as 14 after three quarters before a 19-9 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 70-74 at the end of the game. Jiangsu Phoenix dominated on the defensive end, holding Bayi Kylin to just 7 points in second quarter. Forward Yi Qiang (193-94) nailed 16 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side and forward Jiayin Jiang (183-95) accounted for 11 points and 6 rebounds. The former international forward Lu Wen (188-90) came up with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists and forward MengXin Sun (190-93) added 16 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Bayi Kylin in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The victory was the third consecutive win for Jiangsu Phoenix. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Beijing and Shanghai. Bayi Kylin lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the seventh position with three games lost. They share it with Liaoning. Jiangsu Phoenix will meet at home Zhejiang Far East (#11) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Bayi Kylin will play against Guangdong Dolphins (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
