Regular Season Round 4: Hitachi Cougars - Toyota A. 73-76

Bottom-ranked Hitachi Cougars (0-4) is still winless. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their fourth consecutive match to eighth ranked Toyota A. (2-1) 76-73 on Saturday evening. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 24-10. But Hitachi Cougars won second period 19-9. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Toyota A. forced 20 Hitachi Cougars turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of power forward Yumi Niwa (180-90) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and 6 rebounds and international forward Mika Kurihara (178-89) who added 18 points during the contest. At the losing side guard Kasumi Takahashi (167-87) responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists and Aiko Ishihara (178-92) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds. Four Toyota A. and five Hitachi Cougars players scored in double figures. Toyota A. moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Mitsubishi K. Loser Hitachi Cougars still closes the standings with four games lost. Toyota A. will face Aishin Wings (#8) in Anjo in the next round. Hitachi Cougars will play on the road against the league's leader Denso Iris in Kariya and hope to get finally their first victory.
