Regular Season Round 9: Challans - Vichy 58-75

Very predictable result when fourth ranked JA Vichy (6-3) defeated on the road 9th ranked Vendee Challans (4-5) 75-58 on Saturday. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. JA Vichy dominated on the defensive end, holding Vendee Challans to just 5 points in third quarter. Power forward Gregory Lessort (197-85) stepped up and scored 14 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and American swingman Jason Williams (198-83, college: UTEP) chipped in 15 points. Four JA Vichy players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Bahamas power forward Lavar Simmons (201-83, college: Master's) with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds and Scottish forward Gareth Murray (201-84, college: Kalamazoo Valley CC) scored 12 points. JA Vichy moved-up to third place. Vendee Challans lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the eleventh position with five games lost. JA Vichy will face La Rochelle (#7) on the road in the next round. Vendee Challans will play against Rueil (#8) and hope to win that game.
