The most exciting game of round 14 in the BJ League took place in Mikawa. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of second-ranked Hamamatsu Phoenix (9-3) to first ranked Kyoto Hannar. (12-2) 76-73 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Hamamatsu Phoenix. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Hamamatsu Phoenix won fourth quarter 33-30. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. 26 personal fouls committed by Hamamatsu Phoenix helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was forward Reginald Warren (204-81, college: W.Florida) who scored 13 points and 9 rebounds. Forward David Palmer (201-82, college: S.Utah) chipped in 13 points and 5 rebounds. Forward Mo Charlo (203-83, college: Nevada) produced a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds and forward Jermaine Green (203-80, college: N.Texas, agency: Haylett Sports) added 11 points respectively for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Kyoto Hannar. maintains first position with 12-2 record, which they share with Akita NH. Hamamatsu Phoenix at the other side dropped to the third place with three games lost. Kyoto Hannar. is looking forward to face Niigata Albirex (#6) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Hamamatsu Phoenix will play against Saitama Broncos and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
