Regular Season Round 8: Zaglebie - Krosno 78-96

No shocking result in a game when third ranked Krosno (7-1) beat bottom-ranked Zaglebie (2-6) in Sosnowiec 96-78. It looked good early as Zaglebie took an 1-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Krosno had a 24-14 second period charge getting the lead and Zaglebie was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 78-96. Krosno players were unselfish on offense dishing 27 assists. The best player for the winners was power forward Marcin Salamonik (202-83) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. Dariusz Oczkowicz (182-81) chipped in 20 points and 4 assists. Five Krosno players scored in double figures. Krosno's coach Michal Baran allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Marek Piechowicz (201-88) produced 24 points and guard Grzegorz Mordzak (182-77) added 20 points and 4 assists respectively for the hosts. Krosno moved-up to second place, which they share with Spojnia. Newly promoted Zaglebie dropped to the bottom position with six games lost. Krosno's next round opponent will be SKK Siedlce (#13) at home which should be an easy win for them. Zaglebie will play against Znicz Basket in Pruszkow and hope to win that game.
