Regular Season Round 20: Boston C. - Phoenix Suns 114-118
Date: November 17, 2014
The Phoenix Suns blew double-digit leads in both halves but still pulled out a 118-114 victory over the Boston Celtics on Monday night. The Suns (6-5 after ending a two-game losing streak) led by 13 points in the first half, lost the lead and then led by 14 in the second half -- and lost that lead, too. But guard Eric Bledsoe stole an Avery Bradley pass and scored, breaking a 114-114 tie with 29.5 seconds left. The Celtics suffered their third straight tough home loss to fall to 3-6. The game ended with Boston guard Rajon Rondo on the line, his team down four points and 2.6 seconds left. Rondo missed all three foul shots, finishing a night that saw him go two of 10 from the line. That negated a 14-point, 10-rebound, 9-assist effort. Suns forward Markieff Morris scored a career-high 30 points, grabbed six rebounds and dished out five assists, guard Goran Dragic had 22 points, six rebounds and seven assists, while center Alex Len scored 19 points, including two free throws that basically iced the game with 19.8 seconds left, and had seven rebounds. Bledsoe had 15 points, seven assists and five rebounds. Forward Jeff Green led the Celtics with 28 points, forward Jared Sullinger had 18 points and eight rebounds and Bradley 16 points. The Celtics finished the game 20 of 31 from the foul line, while the Suns were 13 of 16. Suns rookie forward T.J. Warren, who had played one NBA minute coming into the game, scored his first seven pro points and had two offensive rebounds in the fourth quarter. He was playing because forward P.J. Tucker was inactive after missing a team bus. The Suns, on the second leg of a six-game road trip, jumped to a 13-point lead 7:24 into the game but led by only three at the end of the first quarter -- Boston turning around a 9-0 Phoenix run with a 14-2 run of its own. The Celtics rallied to take a 38-36 lead, but the Suns regained control with a 9-2 run and wound up leading by six at the break. They came out strong in the third quarter, building their lead to 14 2:31 into the second half. The lead was cut to three, and after Rondo came back in, the lead went down to one. But two missed free throws by Rondo helped the Suns hang on -- and a Zeller slam brought the home team's deficit down to one again at the end of the quarter. Courtesy of: kspr.com
