Regular Season Round 8: Beijing Ducks - Qingdao E. 114-113

The most exciting game of round 8 in the CBA took place in Beijing. This game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 7th ranked Qingdao Eagles (4-3) to second ranked Beijing Ducks (7-1) 114-113 on Wednesday evening. Host team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. The hosts trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 61-58 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Strangely Qingdao Eagles outrebounded Beijing Ducks 49-30 including 34 on the defensive glass. It was a great shooting night for Beijing Ducks especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.4 percentage. American power forward Randolph Morris (211-86, college: Kentucky) saved the victory by scoring 35 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds. Forward Gen Li (196-88) contributed with 28 points (on 10-of-11 shooting from the field) for the winners. Iranian center Hamed Haddadi (218-85) replied with a double-double by scoring 28 points, 15 rebounds and 6 assists and American point guard Justin Dentmon (183-85, college: Washington, agency: Comsport) added 30 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Qingdao Eagles. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Beijing Ducks have a solid four-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains second position with 7-1 record having just three points less than leader Liaoning H., which they share with Guangdong ST. Qingdao Eagles at the other side dropped to the eighth place with three games lost. Beijing Ducks is looking forward to face Foshan (#10) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Qingdao Eagles will play against Jilin Tigers in Changchun and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
