There was a surprise result in Frankfurt where tenth ranked Licher Basket (3-6) won against 4th placed Fraport Skyliners II (5-4) 63-59 on Saturday. American guard Jermale Jones (186-86, college: Tuskegee) stepped up and scored 21 points and 5 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) for the winners and swingman Eric Curth (193-92) chipped in 10 points and 6 rebounds. Worth to mention Jones played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped get the job in pro basketball. The best for the losing side was forward Niklas Kiel (207-97, agency: Octagon Europe) with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds and center Tim Oldenburg (202-92) scored 11 points and 6 rebounds. Four Fraport Skyliners II players scored in double figures. Licher Basket moved-up to ninth place in Group South, which they share with Hanau. Loser Fraport Skyliners II keeps the fourth position with four games lost. Licher Basket will face higher ranked BG Karlsruhe (#5) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Fraport Skyliners II will play against SG Schwelmer Baskets and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
