Regular Season Round 9: Shanghai - Guangdong 88-77

An interesting game for Shanghai Octopus (8-1) which hosted in Shanghai 4th placed Guangdong Dolphins (6-3). Second ranked Shanghai Octopus managed to get a 11-point victory 88-77. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Guangdong Dolphins. The game was mostly controlled by Shanghai Octopus. Guangdong Dolphins managed to win fourth quarter 29-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Shanghai Octopus dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Guangdong Dolphins' 40. It was a good game for American center Sylvia Fowles (198-85, college: LSU) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!) and 17 rebounds (on 16-of-15 shooting from the field). International forward Jing Huang (183-85) contributed with 10 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Forward Lin Zhu (180-88) answered with 23 points and 4 assists and forward Sijing Huang (192-96) added 11 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Guangdong Dolphins. Shanghai Octopus have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Beijing and Shanxi. Guangdong Dolphins at the other side keep the fourth place with three games lost. They share the position with Jiangsu. Shanghai Octopus is looking forward to face Zhejiang Far East (#10) in Hangzhou in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Guangdong Dolphins will play on the road against Whale (#12) in Sichuan and are hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
