Regular Season Round 9: Znicz Basket - Zaglebie 95-79

Rather predictable result in Pruszkow where ninth ranked Znicz Basket (4-5) defeated bottom-ranked Zaglebie (2-7) 95-79 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Znicz Basket. Zaglebie was better in fourth quarter 26-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Zaglebie 38-22 including a 31-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. Marcin Kowalewski (200-86, agency: Promotex) stepped up and scored 27 points for the winners and Adam Linowski (201-87, agency: Promotex) chipped in 21 points and 10 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Znicz Basket's coach Michal Spychala used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was Marek Piechowicz (201-88) with 20 points and 6 rebounds and Pawel Bogdanowicz (197-87) scored 20 points and 6 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Znicz Basket moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Zaglebie lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the bottom position with seven games lost. Znicz Basket will face SKK Siedlce (#13) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Zaglebie will play against Spojnia in Stargard and hope to win that game.
