Panama opened win count at the Central American and Caribbean Games in Mexico. They overcame Dominican Repubic in opener. Levour Warren stepped up with 24 points to lead the winners. Panama trailed by as many as 8 points after the opening quarter 17:25. But they stiffened defensively in the second frame. Panama held Dominican Republic to just 12 points in the period to open a 2-point lead at halftime. Panama sank 29 points in the third term to take a 9-point advantage into the fourth frame. Dominican Repiblic dropped 28 points in the final stanza but could not avoid the defeat. Ayarza had 21 points, while Gaskins added 13 points in the victory. Suero responded with 23 points and 7 rebounds for Dominican Republic. Jack Martinez had 22 points and 7 rebounds in the loss.
