Regular Season Round 7: CAI Zaragoza - Strasbourg 71-73 OT

Spanish CAI Zaragoza (#5) forced the game against French Strasbourg IG (#1) into an overtime, but lost by two points 71-73. The game took place in Zaragoza. But the guests from Strasbourg were better at the end. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 22-13. But CAI Zaragoza won second period 20-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening, at least not yet. The game turned upside-down in the last quarter, where CAI Zaragoza used huge pressure winning it 13-10 getting a tie at the end of regular time. They lost eventually overtime period 5-7. Ali Traore (207-85, college: S.Idaho JC, agency: Beo Basket) fired 17 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. American point guard Louis Campbell (190-79, college: Buffalo) chipped in 12 points and 7 assists. Serbian power forward Stevan Jelovac (208-89, agency: Beo Basket) produced 14 points and 5 rebounds (made all of his eight free throws) and point guard Pedro Lompart (185-82) added 6 points and 10 assists respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Strasbourg IG maintains first place in Group A with 6-1 record. CAI Zaragoza lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with five games lost. Strasbourg IG's next round opponent will be bottom-ranked Trenkwalder RE (#6) in Reggio Emilia which should be theoretically an easy game. CAI Zaragoza will play at home against Telekom Baskets and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
