Regular Season Round 8: Snaefell - IR 98-95

Date: November 27, 2014
Important game to mention about took place in Stykkisholmur. Eighth ranked Snaefell (4-4) saved a 3-point victory at home edging 9th ranked IR (2-6) 98-95 on Thursday evening. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But IR won third quarter 18-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Strangely IR outrebounded Snaefell 50-32 including a 37-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Chris Woods (195-89, college: Pfeiffer) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!) and 23 rebounds and naturalized American guard Austin Bracey (190-90) who added 30 points and 4 assists (perfect from downtown making all six shots !!!) during the contest. American-Jamaican forward Trey Hampton (203-87, college: Georgia St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 38 points (!!!), 16 rebounds and 4 blocks and point guard Matthias Sigurdarson (185-94, college: Flagler) scored 27 points and 4 assists. Snaefell moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser IR keeps the ninth position with six games lost. Snaefell will face league's second-placed Tindastoll in Sauoarkrokur in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. IR will play at home against Haukar (#4) and hope to win that game.
