Regular Season Round 11: Mickiewicz - MCKiS Jaworz. 75-70

There was a small surprise in Katowice where fifth ranked Mickiewicz (7-3) won against second-ranked MCKiS Jaworz. (7-3) 75-70 on Saturday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But MCKiS Jaworz. won third quarter 20-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was forward Tomasz Gembus (197-87) who scored 28 points. Point guard Michal Kozak (179-92) chipped in 15 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Mickiewicz's coach Adam Kubaszczyk used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Center Lukasz Bak (210-81, agency: Promotex) produced a double-double by scoring 23 points and 15 rebounds and swingman Grzegorz Remin (191-82) added 21 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. The victory was the third consecutive win for Mickiewicz. They moved-up to second place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated MCKiS Jaworz. Mickiewicz will face AZS PCz (#7) in Czestochowa in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. MCKiS Jaworz. will play at home against Gimbasket Wroclaw (#11) and hope to win that game and get promotion back to the 1Liga just one year after relegation.
