There was no surprise in Jonava where 5th ranked Nafta-Uni. (10-8) was defeated by third ranked Petrochema (12-6) 65-61 on Saturday. Nafta-Uni. was trailing by 7 points at halftime but managed to get 2-point lead after three quarters before a 17-11 charge of Petrochema, which allowed them to win the game. The best player for the winners was forward Henrikas Vorotnikovas (203-90) who scored 18 points and 8 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). Forward Aurimas Urbonas (197-93) chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points, 10 assists and 4 steals. Petrochema's coach Kestutis Narusevicius used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Julius Kazakauskas (197-90) who recorded a double-double by scoring 26 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) and point guard Mindaugas Stasys (180-86) added 17 points respectively. Petrochema have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 12-6 record having just two points less than leader Ezerunas-Karys, which they share with Trakai. Loser Nafta-Uni. keeps the fifth place with eight games lost. Petrochema will face Rasai (#8) in the next round where they are favorite. Nafta-Uni. will play against Zalgiris II and hope to win that game.
