Regular Season Round 10: Strasbourg - Nancy 82-72

No shocking result in a game when second ranked Strasbourg IG (9-1) beat at home 7th ranked Sluc Nancy (5-5) 82-72. It looked good early as Sluc Nancy took an 5-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Strasbourg IG had a 27-15 second period charge getting the lead and Sluc Nancy was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 72-82. Strasbourg IG made 24-of-31 charity shots (77.4 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Sluc Nancy turnovers. It was a great shooting night for Strasbourg IG especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.6 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Sluc Nancy was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. The former international Ali Traore (207-85, college: S.Idaho JC, agency: Beo Basket) scored 19 points to lead the charge for the winners and American Matt Howard (203-89, college: Butler) chipped in 15 points and 8 rebounds (made all of his nine free throws !!!) during the contest. At the losing side American forward Randal Falker (201-85, college: S.Illinois) responded with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds and his fellow American import guard Vaughn Duggins (190-87, college: Wright St.) scored 17 points. Four Sluc Nancy players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Strasbourg IG have a solid four-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Limoges. Sluc Nancy at the other side dropped to the eighth place with five games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. Strasbourg IG will play against JL Bourg (#17) at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Sluc Nancy will play against ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
