Regular Season Round 9: Thor Thorl - Fjolnir 108-85

There was no surprise in Thorlakshofn where 11th ranked Fjolnir (2-7) was crushed by seventh ranked Thor Thorl (5-4) 108-85 on Thursday. The game without a history. Thor Thorl led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. American guard Vincent Sanford (190-90, college: Dayton, agency: Promotex) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds for the winners and forward Tomas Tomasson (193-91, college: Newberry) chipped in 27 points (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field). Five Thor Thorl players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American forward Da'Ron Sims (195-87, college: W.Georgia) with 17 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Arnthor Gudmundsson (187-91, agency: Dynamics Global Management) scored 15 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Thor Thorl moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Newly promoted Fjolnir dropped to the ninth position with seven games lost. They share it with Grindavik and IR. Thor Thorl will meet at home league's leader KR in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Fjolnir will play against Grindavik (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
