No shocking result in a game when first ranked Beijing Great Wall (11-1) beat at home 5th ranked Guangdong Dolphins (6-6) 79-68 on Thursday. Beijing Great Wall dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Guangdong Dolphins' 36. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Beijing Great Wall made 8 blocks. It was a very good performance for American center Brittney Griner (203-90, college: Baylor) who helped to win the game recording 27 points, 7 rebounds and 7 blocks. The former international forward Fan Zhang (188-84) contributed with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Forward Lin Zhu (180-88) replied with 17 points and 6 assists and forward Dongxia Zhang (183-90) added 12 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Guangdong Dolphins. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Beijing Great Wall maintains first position in Places 1-8 with 11-1 record. Guangdong Dolphins lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with six games lost. Beijing Great Wall will face Jiangsu Phoenix (#3) in Yixing in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Guangdong Dolphins will play on the road against Bayi Kylin in Yinzhou and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
