Regular Season Round 20: Petrochema - JAZZ-Diremta 69-72

The most important game in the last round took place in Jonava between third ranked Petrochema (13-7) and fourteenth ranked JAZZ-Diremta (2-18) on Saturday night. Petrochema was edged by JAZZ-Diremta in a tough game at home 69-72. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Petrochema. Petrochema trailed by 14 points after 3 quarters before a 23-12 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 69-72 at the end of the game. JAZZ-Diremta forced 20 Petrochema turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international point guard Evaldas Dainys (180-82, college: Cent.Florida CC) who helped to win the game recording 23 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals and Mantvydas Staselis (190-94) who added 21 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) during the contest. Forward Aurimas Urbonas (197-93) responded with 18 points and 5 assists and forward Henrikas Vorotnikovas (203-90) scored 15 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. JAZZ-Diremta maintains fourteenth position with 2-18 record. Petrochema at the other side keeps the third place with seven games lost. They share the position with Trakai. JAZZ-Diremta's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Kaunas to the arena Zalgiris II.
