Regular Season Round 10: Castello - Lucentum 87-73

The game between Top Four teams took place in Castellon. First ranked host Castello (9-1) defeated their biggest opponent Meridiano Alicante (8-2) 87-73. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The game was mostly controlled by Castello. Meridiano Alicante managed to win third quarter 20-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Castello dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Meridiano Alicante's 32. They outrebounded Meridiano Alicante 37-25 including 26 on the defensive glass. Washburn is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. At the losing side point guard Javier Hernandez (182-92) responded with 21 points and forward Joan Pardina (202-93) scored 9 points and 10 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Castello have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 9-1 record. Newly promoted Meridiano Alicante keeps the second place with two games lost. Castello will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Meridiano Alicante will play on the road against Azpeitia and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
