The game with biggest result difference took place in Cancun. Local Pioneros (11-5) outscored 12th ranked Gigantes (5-13) 96-77 on Saturday night. The hosts trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 96-77. Pioneros looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was American-Puerto Rican point guard Denis Clemente (183-86, college: Kansas St.) who scored 23 points (perfect from the field making all nine shots !!!). The former international swingman Romel Beck (201-82, college: UNLV, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 17 points. American power forward Sean Carter (205-88, college: Massachusetts) produced 16 points and 8 rebounds and American-Haitian forward James Anacreon (201-90, college: Valdosta St.) added 16 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Pioneros moved-up to third place, which they share with Halc.Xalapa. Gigantes lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the twelfth position with 13 games lost. Pioneros will face bottom-ranked Gansos (#14) in Ciudad de Mexico in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Gigantes will play on the road against the league's second-placed Soles in Mexicali and hope to win that game.
