Regular Season Round 40: San Antonio S. - New York K. 109-95
Date: December 10, 2014
Marco Belinelli scored a season-high 22 points off the bench to lead seven players in double figures as short-handed San Antonio sent visiting New York to its 10th straight defeat. Danny Green scored 13 points and Boris Diaw added 12 for the Spurs, who were without their top four scorers with Tony Parker (hamstring) and Kawhi Leonard (hand) out with injuries and Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili sitting out the second game of a back-to-back. Jeff Ayres had 11 points and a team-high six rebounds and Matt Bonner, Aron Baynes and Austin Daye each contributed 10 points as San Antonio improved to 8-1 at home. Tim Hardaway Jr. scored 23 points to lead the Knicks, who were without star Carmelo Anthony (knee) and reserve guard J.R. Smith (heel). Jason Smith added 14 points and fellow reserve Cole Aldrich chipped in 10 as New York dropped its 11th straight road game. The Spurs led by as many as eight in the first half before settling for a 56-52 advantage at the break, and they didn't waste any time putting away the Knicks in the second half. San Antonio opened the half with a 9-2 burst and New York didn't get closer than eight points the rest of the way. A 16-0 Spurs run capped by back-to-back 3-pointers from Belinelli pushed the lead out to 86-61 with 2:53 left in the third quarter, and San Antonio led 94-73 after three. San Antonio pushed the lead back out to 25 twice before New York began chipping away against the end of the Spurs' bench and Hardaway put up five straight points to cap the scoring and make the final margin more respectable.
