There was no surprise in Zielona Gora where 7th ranked AZS Polfarmex (5-6) was defeated by fifth ranked Stelmet (8-3) 69-61 on Saturday. AZS Polfarmex trailed by 13 points after 3 quarters before a 24-19 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 61-69 at the end of the game. Stelmet made 18-of-22 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was American-Georgian swingman Quinton Hosley (201-84, college: Fresno St.) who scored 21 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international swingman Przemyslaw Zamojski (193-86, college: Independence CC, agency: Alti Sport) chipped in 16 points. Four Stelmet players scored in double figures. American power forward Kevin Johnson (201-84, college: Humboldt St.) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 14 rebounds and the other American import point guard Kwamain Mitchell (178-89, college: St.Louis) added 19 points respectively for the guests. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Stelmet. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Rosa Radom. Newly promoted AZS Polfarmex dropped to the eighth position with six games lost. They share it with Energa Czarni. Stelmet will meet Twarde Pierniki (#15) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. AZS Polfarmex will play against Energa Czarni (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
