Regular Season Round 14: Bordeaux - St Vallier 115-101
Date: December 13, 2014
We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 9th ranked Saint Vallier (6-6) lost on the road to tenth ranked JSA Bordeaux (7-6) 115-101 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 8 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 7-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 115-101. JSA Bordeaux made 32-of-38 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. It was a great shooting night for JSA Bordeaux especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 56.3 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American-Jamaican forward Justin Rutty (200-89, college: Quinnipiac) notched 29 points and 9 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) to lead the effort and Spanish power forward Roberto Morentin (206-81, college: Cent.Florida) supported him with 16 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. JSA Bordeaux's coach Regis Racine allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 19 points and 8 rebounds by American power forward Kurt Cunningham (205-87, college: Boise St.) did not help to save the game for Saint Vallier. Power forward Harry Disy (200-84, college: Louisiana Tech) added 22 points for the guests. Five JSA Bordeaux and four Saint Vallier players scored in double figures. JSA Bordeaux moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Challans. Loser Saint Vallier dropped to the tenth position with six games lost. JSA Bordeaux will meet Sorgues BC (#12) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Saint Vallier will play against UB Chartres and hope to secure a win and be promoted back to the ProB just one year after relegation.
