Regular Season Round 47: Detroit P. - Dallas M. 106-117
Date: December 17, 2014
Chandler Parsons poured in a season-high 32 points, and Monta Ellis supplied 25 to lead the Dallas Mavericks to a 117-106 victory over the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday at The Palace. Parsons, a small forward who has been battling back soreness, finished two points shy of his career high and also grabbed seven rebounds. Ellis dished out eight assists from his shooting guard spot for Dallas (19-8), which has an 8-0 road record against Eastern Conference opponents. Mavs power forward Dirk Nowitzki added 18 points and 10 rebounds, and center Tyson Chandler chipped in 16 points and nine rebounds for the league's highest-scoring team. Center Andre Drummond racked up 19 points and a season-high 24 rebounds for the Pistons (5-21), who lost their 11th straight at home, a single-season franchise record. They had 10-game home losing streaks from Jan. 23-Feb. 27, 1980, and Dec. 21, 1993, to Jan. 31, 1994. Shooting guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope contributed 14 points, and point guard Brandon Jennings and power forward Jonas Jerebko had 13 points apiece for Detroit. Ellis reached 14 points by halftime to help Dallas take a 53-51 lead. Drummond notched his double-double before the break with 11 points and 13 rebounds and could have scored more if not for missing five of six free throws. Parsons erupted for 15 points in the third quarter as the Mavs stretched their lead to 83-73. Dallas led by as much as 13 late in the quarter, thanks to a three-point play and 3-pointer by Parsons. When the Mavs reeled off nine unanswered points early in the fourth, including a Nowitzki fall-away jumper, their lead was up to 92-75. The Pistons responded with a 20-9 run, finished off by point guard D.J. Augustin's 3-pointer, to make it 101-95. Parsons and Nowitzki killed off Detroit's rally with back-to-back threes. Chandler grabbed his 8,000th career rebound during the first quarter. He became the 68th player in NBA history to reach the milestone. Courtesy of: wsbt.com
