Regular Season Round 12: Castello - Avila 89-79

LEB Silver top team - Castello (10-1) managed to deliver another win on Wednesday. This time they beat seventh ranked Fontedoso Carrefour (6-6) in Castellon 89-79. The game was mostly controlled by Castello. Fontedoso Carrefour managed to win third quarter 22-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Castello dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Fontedoso Carrefour's 38. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. It was a good game for American center Nick Washburn (208-91, college: Hillsdale, agency: Duran International) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds. Naturalized Argentinian forward Alejandro Bortolussi (202-89) contributed with 19 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Washburn is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five Castello players scored in double figures. American-Jamaican center Dane Johnson (208-86, college: Hofstra) replied with 21 points and 6 rebounds and guard Alejandro Marin (190-88) added 20 points in the effort for Fontedoso Carrefour. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Castello have an impressive nine-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 10-1 record. Fontedoso Carrefour at the other side dropped to the eighth place with six games lost. They share the position with Azpeitia. Castello are looking forward to face FC Barcelona II (#13) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Fontedoso Carrefour will play against the league's second-placed Meridiano Alicante (#2) and is hoping to prove to their fans that the loss was just an accident.
