Regular Season Round 19: Nevezis - Siauliai 83-88

Very expected game when 10th ranked Nevezis (3-16) lost to fifth ranked Siauliai (9-6) in Kedainiai 83-88. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Nevezis won third quarter 24-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Siauliai won last quarter 20-16. It was a great evening for guard Gintaras Leonavicius (194-83, agency: Players Group) who led his team to a victory scoring 17 points and 7 rebounds. Guard Vytautas Sulskis (200-88, college: Youngstown St.) helped adding 9 points and 8 rebounds. Siauliai's coach Gediminas Petrauskas used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side American forward Thomas Davis (200-91, college: SW Oklahoma St.) responded with 21 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals and Russian guard Alexandr Kluev (202-90) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds. Four Nevezis players scored in double figures. The victory was the third consecutive win for Siauliai. They maintain fifth place with 9-6 record. Nevezis at the other side keeps the tenth position with 16 games lost. Siauliai will play against Lietkabelis (#9) in Panevezys in the next round. Nevezis will have a break next round.
