There was no surprise in Tokyo where 4th placed Hyogo S. (8-12) was edged by first ranked Hitachi Sunrockers (18-4) 86-83 on Saturday. The game without a history. Hitachi Sunrockers led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. American forward Ira Brown (193-82, college: Gonzaga) fired 21 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Qatari-American guard Trey Johnson (196-84, college: Jackson St.) chipped in 18 points and 8 assists. Hitachi Sunrockers' coach Michael Olson used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. American swingman William Knight (196-79, college: UCLA) produced 26 points and 7 rebounds and the other American import center Isaac Butts (208-89, college: Appalachian St.) added 11 points and 12 rebounds respectively for lost side. Five Hyogo S. players scored in double figures. Hitachi Sunrockers have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place with 18-4 record. Loser Hyogo S. keeps the fourth position with 12 games lost. Hitachi Sunrockers will face Chiba Jets (#5) at home in the next round. Hyogo S. will play against Kumamoto V. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
