Fifth ranked Recanati (8-5) crushed at home 14th ranked Matera (4-9) by 32 points 102-70, which is the biggest margin this round on Sunday night. The game was mostly controlled by Recanati. Matera was better in third quarter 23-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Recanati shot the lights out from three sinking 18 long-distance shots on high 51.4 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Naturalized Belgian point guard Dimitri Lauwers (187-79) stepped up and scored 20 points and 6 rebounds for the winners and naturalized Senegalese guard Ousmane Gueye (188-82) chipped in 26 points. Recanati maintains fifth place with 8-5 record. Matera lost seventh consecutive game. They dropped to the thirteenth position with nine games lost. Recanati will face higher ranked Treviglio (#4) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Matera will play against Latina Basket (#13) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
