Regular Season Round 20: Mitsubishi DD - Wakayama T. 85-52

Rather expected game when 5th ranked Wakayama T. (4-15) was smashed by second ranked Mitsubishi Dolphins (15-6) in Nagoya 85-52. The game without a history. Mitsubishi Dolphins led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Wakayama T.'s 28. Mitsubishi Dolphins forced 19 Wakayama T. turnovers and outrebounded them 48-37 including 37 on the defensive glass. They brought some defensive toughness making 11 blocks. The best player for the winners was Senegalese-French forward Amath M'Baye (206-89, college: Oklahoma) who had a double-double by scoring 31 points and 10 rebounds. American forward Brendan Lane (206-90, college: Pepperdine) chipped in a double-double by scoring 20 points and 17 rebounds. Bahamas forward Zane Knowles (208-92, college: Texas A&M-CC, agency: Blacktop Management) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds and American power forward Paul Butorac (208-83, college: E.Washington) added 15 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the guests. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Mitsubishi Dolphins have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 15-6 record having two points less than leader Hitachi SR. Wakayama T. at the other side keeps the fifth place with 15 games lost. Mitsubishi Dolphins' next round opponent will be league's leader Aishin Sea Horses in Kariya and it will be for sure the game of the week. Wakayama T. will play on the road against Hyogo S. (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
